1. Sol (Martian Solar Day):

A Sol lasts 24 hours, 39 minutes, and 35.244 seconds (~2.7% longer than an Earth day). Rover mission timelines are indexed strictly by Sols since touchdown.

2. Atmospheric Conditions:

Mars has a thin $CO_2$ atmosphere (~95.3%) with surface pressure averaging ~610 Pa (<1% of Earth sea level). Diurnal temperature swings exceed 70°C.
